Ming Emperors' Tombs
CJ, Kara and Sara at the tomb of a Ming emperor on our way to the Great Wall. This particular emperor was one of the most interesting; he is the one who sent out the explorer Zheng He with a fleet of 30,000 people on an early 15th century expedition which ultimately took him all the way to the Swahili trading states of Africa, then decided that the outside world had nothing to offer, burned Zheng He's ships and closed China to foreigners and foreign trade. In retrospect, this may have been a poor decision, but we saw first-hand at his tomb that he is clearly beloved in China.
