This is a closeup of the pagoda at Xi'an, which our group chose not to ascend. In our defense, though, we did climb the Great Wall of China on the previous day and one of China's most impressive mountains the following day; even intrepid scholar-adventurers like ours need to rest a bit in between heroic efforts.
