Last Glimpse of Shanghai
With just enough time for one last foray into Shanghai before the overnight train to Beijing, Mr. Gao took us on a tour of his old neighborhood, culminating in an incredible meal at Mr. Gao's favorite local restaurant. Afterwards, most of the group went back to campus to rest up for the train; this is a picture of the few hardy souls who agreed to let me take them to what I promised to be "Shanghai's best photo spot", the riverfront facing the newly-developed Lujiazui area. I hope this picture doesn't disappoint; the tall buildings, from left to right, are the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Jin Mao Tower (former tallest building in Asia) and the almost-completed Shanghai World Financial Center (which will be the second-tallest building in the world).
