Technology of the Future

Our group visited InfoSpace, a joint venture of a Western company (InfoSpace) and China Telecom.  We were greeted with a digital welcome; while it was mostly in Chinese (and didn't photograph well), the Peddie name was scrolling across the giant screen there.  We were then introduced to a host of cutting-edge technologies being developed at InfoSpace.  A primary purpose of the partnership is to push forward on state-of-the-art surveillance technology (hmmm...), but there were many other applications, from skilled Chinese robots to interactive homes to cars that drove themselves.  This is a picture of CJ trying out the "Virtual Closet"; he is wearing his regular clothes, but a computer has scanned his body and is showing him how he would look in traditional Chinese dress.  This technology allows the user to try on many different outfits in rapid succession without ever changing clothes, something that would revolutionize the retail clothing industry and perhaps even allow my oldest daughter to get ready for school in a reasonable amount of time.  :-)
